New York State Assembly passed three pro-tenant bills!

On Tuesday, June 14 the New York State Assembly passed three important pro-tenant bills:

Repeals Vacancy Decontrol & re-regulates almost all deregulated apartments - A433 (Linda Rosenthal, et al.)
The bill passed 92 to 46. All Republican Assembly members voted no as did some Democrats. This included current mayoral candidate Nicole Malliotakis (Staten Island - R), from the democrats notably Michael Cusick (Staten Island- D) & Mark Gjonaj (Bronx- R).

Repeals the 20% statutory vacancy bonus - A954 (Brian Kavanagh et al.) This bill passed 93-45.

Repeals 2003 amendment that allows landlords to jump from preferential rent to legal rent upon lease renewal - A6285 (Cymbrowitz et al.)
This bill passed 94-47.

All three bills were delivered to the senate, where the Republican leader referred them to the Rules Committee, where they were sent to die. 
Call your state senator TODAY! Let them know they can not call themselves tenant friendly without getting these bills passed in the senate!
