Next R3 Meeting: Monday, May 20 at 6:30, Upper West Side

When: Monday, May 20 6:30-8:30pm

Where: 593 Columbus Ave,
(Goddard-Riverside Community Center)
Getting there: 1BC to 86th Street
We'll discuss Tenant Lobby Day and the proposed rent-hikes - focusing on the People's RGB Hearing on June 5th   and RGB's fuzzy math in calculating rent increases.

The RGB is considering raising rents for stabilized tenants between 3.25-6.25% for 1-year leases and 5-9.5% for 2-year leases. That's a sharp increase from last year-increases of 2% and 4% were the lowest in recent memory.

With more than 50% of New Yorkers living in poverty, now is the time for the RGB to respond to the needs of the people and hold more extensive public hearings. Somehow, they've decided to forgo outer boro hearings and blatanlty disregard rent-stabilized tenants in 4 of the 5 boros. The tenant movement, led by CASA, is organizing a hearing in the Bronx (intended to be a city-wide effort). Join the planning call next Friday, the 17th at 2pm--the number is 605-475-4000, access code: 367285#--and come to the People's RGB!  Download a flyer in Spanish or English.
